Admission to Candidature

A candidate must have completed either:
(a) 48 credit points of units from the Bachelor of Educational Studies including at least 24 credit points of Education units; or
(b) 48 credit points of units from approved undergraduate initial teaching education courses including at least 24 credit points of Education units*.

Candidates admitted under Rule (a) and (b) are referred to the University Policy on Advanced Standing.

Course Requirements

To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 48 credit points from units at 100-level or above in the Bachelor of Educational Studies or an approved undergraduate initial teaching education course.

Award of Degree

Candidates who meets the course requirements shall be awarded the Diploma in Educational Studies.

Course Aims	The Diploma in Educational Studies provides candidates with a broad range of introductory discipline studies from across the University, with an emphasis on Educational Studies.
Learning Outcomes	Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: demonstrate knowledge in one or more discipline areas including Education Studies; demonstrate a basic understanding of theories, factual content and research procedures and practice in one or more discipline areas including Education Studies; analyse, synthesise and communicate ideas in their field of study; and take responsibility for their own learning and collaborate with others within broad parameters.
Graduate Attributes	Knowledge of a Discipline Graduates will be able to demonstrate knowledge in one or more fields of study. They will have acquired this from lectures, unit materials and online activities. Communication Skills Graduates will recognise the importance of continuing to develop their oral, visual, and written communication skills, and to be able to use appropriate communication technologies. Problem Solving Graduates will have developed the ability to understand assessment tasks and to integrate relevant theory and literature into their own analysis. Information Literacy Graduates will know how to recognise relevant information and to use appropriate media, tools and methodologies to locate, access and use information. They will have learnt through assessment tasks how to evaluate the sources, values, and validity of information, and to use information in critical and creative thinking. Ethical Conduct and Social Responsibility Graduates will have developed an awareness of the need for academic integrity and an understanding that their personal beliefs and actions impinge on others. Lifelong Learning Graduates will be able to take personal responsibility for lifelong learning by demonstrating a capacity for self-directed learning. Independence and Collaboration Graduates will have developed the ability to work independently from the completion of elements in units in the program. Graduates will also have developed the ability to work collaboratively from group activities.
