If candidates have completed a Major - a further 48 credit points comprising 12 credit points of Core Units; and a Minor of 24 credit points; and Elective Units of 12 credit points.
If candidates have completed an Extended Major - a further 24 credit points comprising 12 credit points of Core Units; and Elective Units of 12 credit points.
Elective Units can be selected from any unit offered by the University subject to candidates meeting overall course requirements and prerequisite and timetabling requirements for individual units.

Note for students contemplating studying Honours in Linguistics:
The entry requirements for the Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Linguistics is a GPA of 5.0 (Credit) in all units completed in the Bachelor of Arts component. In addition, a candidate for Linguistics honours in the Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree shall have passed 60 credit points in Linguistics, including 18 credit points at Distinction level and have completed at least two of the following units at Distinction level or better: LING305 (Meaning in Language), LING353 (The English Language), LING365 (Phonetics and Phonology) and LING369 (Morphology and Syntax). The following units offered in previous years LING312 (Phonology and Pronunciation), LING313 (Language Description), LING360 (Analysing Syntax) and LING368 (Formal Phonology) also satisfy this requirement.
