Unit information
Building upon FREN201, FREN202 will further enhance your confidence in your French speaking skills. In this unit, you will develop your conversational skills on a number of topics about French and Francophone culture.
You will progress to a point where your French communication skills will equip you for advanced level study of the language and its film and literature.
Pursue your goal of becoming a confident communicator in a second language and future proof your career in a global economy where over 275 million people speak French.

Notes
Students with existing competence in French (including HSC French Beginners) who are unsure of their current level of competence should contact the discipline convenor to request a placement test.
First language (French) speakers may not enrol in French language units except when required for (school) teaching accreditation in Australian states and territories.
Students may be able to obtain credit for their prior knowledge of the language under the University Admission Credit and Enrolment Guidelines.
All students must have a PC or Mac capable of playing and recording audio. Oral assignments must be submitted online as an mp3 recording (instructions on how to do this will be provided). Students must also have regular access to the internet with an up-to-date browser capable of accessing the Interaction premium website.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate increasing autonomy in listening and speaking skills in French;
- utilise intermediate structures and functions of the French language; in particular grammatical structures;
- communicate with increasing autonomy in French at an intermediate level with some depth on selected topics;
- apply extended knowledge of French cultural norms and society; and
- use developed cognitive skills in oral communication at an intermediate level.
