Unit information
Enhance your technical and performance skills in this unit which is tailored specifically to your level and ability.
In this unit you will explore the repertoire and essential skills in musical technique, expression and performance, appropriate to your individual development.
You will be required to attend regular one-on-one tuition from an approved tutor through the instrumental or vocal program at an approved host institution.
You will focus on the stylistic and interpretative characteristics of repertoire as well as performance planning, individual preparation, practice, and rehearsals by taking part in a range of musical activities including ensemble participation.
Throughout the trimester, you will keep a logbook of performance, practice, planning and rehearsal activities, culminating in a live performance at the end of the unit.

Notes
Students are expected to be able to perform to AMEB 6 Grade standard (or equivalent for contemporary musicians). A working knowledge and practical application of the rudiments of music and music notation is also required.
This unit of study is undertaken at an approved host institution that has an established agreed partnership with UNE. Students are responsible for travel to the host organisation for weekly tuition and the final live performance.
This is a repeatable unit. However, the unit cannot be undertaken more than once in any one teaching period.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- apply knowledge and skills to the areas of individual performance preparation and practice, rehearsal technique, and live performance;
- apply technical and theoretical knowledge to the performance of broad musical styles and genres;
- demonstrate cognitive, technical and communication skills to complete a range of musical activities and communicate information and skills to others; and
- accurately and independently document the application of knowledge and skills demonstrating self-regulated practice and preparation.
