Unit Description

This unit, designed to be of interest to all undergraduate students, covers current topics in the area of psychology and its application to the individual and society. Possible topics include the application of psychology to: early childhood and parenting, positive psychology, meditation and trance states, memory, interpersonal relations, crime, organisations, sport, the environment, human sexuality, addiction, and health psychology.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. model the application of the psychological theories and techniques of the current focal topic/s as they apply to real world problems and complex issues, using foundation knowledge, critical analysis skills, autonomy and judgement;
  2. demonstrate coherent theoretical knowledge of the key psychological theories related to the current focal topic/s of this unit; and
  3. analyse and evaluate the methods employed in the study of the current focal topic/s, with an aim towards communicating knowledge effectively to others.
