The Moodle preparation module must be completed prior to the start of the trimester in which you enrol.

No Advanced Standing will be granted for work already undertaken.

Some courses may not accommodate this unit. If this is the case with your enrolment, you will be un-enrolled and notified via email.

This unit cannot be completed overseas. The work placement must be undertaken in Australia.

The ability to enrol in this unit will be removed on the first day of teaching of each trimester.

Unit Description

The unit enables students to apply their academic knowledge in a workplace context, and to reflect and report on the experience, thus increasing their level of career readiness. The work includes: (1) 120 hours of fully supervised professional activity, project work or directed investigation in a host workplace; (2) not more than 30 hours of additional study and assignment preparation including the Online Preparation Moodle unit.

The unit will require the student to complete the following: (a) complete an Online Preparation Moodle unit, prior to the commencement of any work placement; (b) find a host employer for the work placement; (c) find a suitable academic to set an assessment task/s for the unit; and (d) complete the assessment task/s.

Please note that the work placement is not part of the academic assessment, but the hours will need to be confirmed by the Host Employer.

Materials Textbook information will be displayed approximately 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the teaching period. Please note that textbook requirements may vary from one teaching period to the next.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. apply discipline specific broad and coherent theoretical and/or technical knowledge in the workplace;
  2. analyse and evaluate the relationship between theory and practice in the workplace; and
  3. generate a suitable body of work in an appropriate format which demonstrates problem solving skills and an ability to transmit knowledge and ideas to others in the workplace.
